Ever since I can remember - I knew I would be an artist.

At age 14 I took Life drawing Classes at Roar Studios in Brunswick Street Fitzroy. I had an intense and all consuming interest in all things art. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art at Monash University, then at RMIT in Melbourne. I have had an extensive and varied career as an artist with numerous exhibitions as well as large scale painting commissions in both public and private settings. My work is found on various wine labels and in restaurant venues in NSW.

I often explore figurative forms in my work and process sitting with things that are most uncomfortable, aiming to face them with compassion and equanimity. My body of work marks significant turning points in my life, issues I have struggled to comprehend as well as personal reassurances to self. As a result, my work is autobiographical in nature and depict real-life circumstances. My work embraces the endurance required to question and restructure thoughts into resilience. The objective through personal experience, is to emphasise life’s unexpected turns.

Distortion of the human form has become a way of exploring the complexity of individual experiences that are as unusual as they are familiar. In 2022 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Cancer and wanted to explore the concept of being faced with my own mortality. I turned inward with this struggle and found that my relationship with self is what has helped me to face this dilemma with grace.

Compassion for oneself goes into the creation of each vessel. Working with clay is primal, it is like rediscovering the earth we occupy and a way of understanding the world. Just like in nature, the cycle of life is both beautiful and ugly, but it is natural and inevitable. I am interested in turning the familiar figurative form into something a little less familiar. My figures are influenced by the way they interact with each other, they are solid and enduring, but they are as temporary and fragile as we are. Concerns like fear, loss and vulnerability are welcomed and transformed. My figures are strong and often naked, bearing all and unapologetically embracing the space that they consume. My artwork is a therapeutic approach to healing and of course, flourishing.
